oh the places we go

wow! what a weekend! elaine and i had the pleasure of taking two days off from school to venture off to Praha! That's right, mark that one off the list of places i have always wanted to go and put it on the list of places i have been.

this city is beautiful, full of beautiful people, beautiful places and a sad yet beautiful history.

friday we took a bus to madrid and flew out to praha to be picked up at the airport by our dear friend matthew! little did we know it was only the beginning of two refreshing days.

true: it was cold there, but that is to be expected so far north. it was supposed to rain and snow all weekend but after elaine and i talked to God about it He decided to grace us with minimal rain, 20 minutes of snow...just enough to enjoy and be excited about, and lots of good weather for walking the town. and walk the town we did! Jessica, Jake, Matthew, Elaine and I have officially traversed the entire city by foot...or so it seems. we got to soak in all the architecture, changing colors of the leaves on the trees, castles, cathedrals, bridges, cemetaries, homes and other aspects of czech life.

the czech people know how to do food. my favorite was something called: shmazny snyr or something of this sort. it is a fried cheese patty of some sort and is delicious...take my word for it. i think that i went to the coolest venues in the word this weekend. funny that they are all in the same city. we partook of pizza, beer, vegetarian dishes, real sized coffee drinks, laughter, good conversations, walks, skips, metro rides, photo ops, movies, and just quality time. it was refreshing to be able to fully be myself because i did not have to feel bad about speaking in english. it was good to let the full me out for a bit... [i have discovered that my personality cannot really be translated into spanish...believe me, we have tried]

i think my favorite parts of the weekend were as follows: spending quality time with friends, instantly making two new and dear friends, cooking dinner at jess's places saturday night and just sharing conversation around her table for the evening, talking with jess, jake or matthew as we traversed the city, church. that's right folks, i went to church on sunday and it was all in english!!!!! it was marvelous, just picture it.....prague: international baptist church, gospel choir, hymns and songs, romanian testimony is basic elementary beautiful english, a sermon in english, prayer by individuals in the congregation and just fellowship with the body. that's pretty much what the entire weekend was, refreshing fellowship with the body in prague. i didn't deserve such a blessing!

it has taken me too long to get to making this post anyhow and now i think i'm starting to be repetitive...elaine and jessica both eloquently expressed our weekend together as well.
