9:00 a.m. [and by 9:00 a.m. i mean i leave my house at 9:05 because class never starts on time and it takes 1 minute to walk there on a slow day :)] grammar class at Letres Hispanica with Daniel (my teacher who is rather drab...an undynamic fellow who speaks with a heavy accent, very quickly and likes to roll his eyes at me when i do not understand him. when he teachers grammar he makes me use my dictionary to figure out words when he teaches vocabulary he makes me just sit in confusion. i have not quite figured him out yet, but i think he's starting to warm up to me and my feeble spanish efforts)
11:00 a.m.
[usually 10:50 or so] Elaine and i and sometimes Ross go and have coffee and tortillas or neopolitanos together. tortillas here are AWESOME. they are this quiche type food made with potatoes, egg, cheese and something else whether it be shrimp, pineapple, mushrooms or something else to your liking. neopolitanos are quite delicious too as they are chocolate filled pastries...made fresh daily! this is a picture of El Ave...the little cafe that is a 5 second walk from my school where our 11 a.m. refreshments happen most frequently.11:30 a.m. (ish) i start my second class with any number of teachers. these two classes i take from 11:30-12:30 and 12:30-1:30 are all thanks to Simone. because there are two of us they will teach us more.
*****please note that since i last posted i have attained a classmate. her name is simone (pronounced something like seeeeeeee-moooooooooooooaaaaannnnn-eh) and she is a 36 year old italian girl that looks about a year or two older than myself and is really lovey towards me. she treats me like a little sister/daughter and defends me in the classroom when my teachers give me a hard time......i'll try to get a picture with her somethime in the next two weeks. she is only here until mid-october. she is on vacation and decided while living here for the month that she would take classes to learn the language...how interesting!*****
-my culture teacher: Javier is fabulous! he has a way of making everything interesting...even just mundane vocabulary basics like map, tree, river, lake are exciting with him
-my conversation/vocabulary teacher: Ivan is enchanting. he has 5 piercings in his left ear, one in his right plus his tragus and his nose. he kinda spikes up his hair and is euro-trendy. don't worry he his 32 and has a little boy who lives with his ex-wife. i could sit in his class for more than an hour if need be.
-my other conversation/vocabulary teacher: Rebecca is 23 and wonderful. i think i should like to be her friend outside of class and experience salamanca with her. i have invited her to En Vivo and she has heard about it before but i think she doesn't take me too seriously. i have 2.5 more months to keep trying....i like her class a lot!
-i have had other misc. teachers as well filling in during random hours
my spanish is coming along pretty well. i have finally added some verbs to my vocabulary and have picked up on quite a bit of slang. maybe next week i will learn some other verb tense other than the present so that not everything i say has to be happening in the present!
elaine, ross and i have different projects and "duties" each week that kind of rotate. one that will not be a rotating thing is what i had the pleasure of working on on monday...

Tuesday: Tertulia (free lunch and devo for anyone...2:00-4:00)
Wednesday: Cafe Ingles (english cafe from 7:00-9:00)
Thursday: En Vivo (praise&worship, speaker, pinchos [appetizers] and drinks 10:22-midnight)
these three events happen every week...so add them to your prayers if you so desire!
